Rum Cake

My friend suggested eating this rum cake.

At first it looked ordinary cake

but it was full of mellow rum in my mouth.

So delicious!

I thought it would match Jamaican peppermint herb tea!

I should buy this rum cake a lot!

Ackee and Saltfish

This is one of the famous Jamaican food,

Ackee and Saltfish.

Ackee is the nut and

its texture is like scrambled egg or avocado.

It is soft. It matches Saltfish and vegetables.
the fried banana tastes like a potato and
the dumpling is crispy!
This plate gave me a new good discovery!

Jerk chicken

I was looking forward to eating Jerk chicken.

Before I went to Jamaica, I cooked it at home.

But it was different from eating it there.

It was spicy, juicy and delicious!

It matched Jamaican beer called Red Stripe.

I am getting hungry!

Graduation party

My best friend's daughter graduated from

the high school last June.

I went to celebrate her.

In Japan we don't have the graduation party at home

and so I was excited about it.

The decorations which stuck on the cake was my best friend's work.

They were so pretty!

Postcards from Indonesia

I received letters from Indonesia last year.

My Indonesian friend introduced her country to me.

Indonesia consists of many islands

and they have many local languages, cultures and religions. She sent me a silk scarf and a bracelet

of the traditional wax-resist dyeing textile called Batik. They are very beautiful.

I wore it with the Kimono scarf I made.

Take a look at it!

Kimono scarf

I sewed three pieces of kimono.

The pink parts are drawn the peony and crane

and the black part is a high technique called "Shibori"

(pick up the cloth and tie it up with a thread and dye it. The part which is tied up with the thread is not dyed.)

Alligator necklace

I am making the alligator series.

Wild and gorgeous ones!

I bought these turquoise in San Francisco before.

It was a lot of work to make it a chain.

This necklace matches casual outfit and

these strong blue colors become the accent in it!
